The crossover SUV is produced by Toyota and its development first started in 2013. Its production was unveiled in 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show and production began in November of that same year. In December of 2016, the C-HR launched in Japan, followed by North America, Europe, Australia, and South Africa in early 2017. In 2018, the car was on sale in Southeast Asia, China and Taiwan. The "C-HR" stands for Compact High Rider, Cross Hatch Run–about, or Coupé High–Rider.
