Produced from 1983 to 1996, the Chevrolet C4 is classified as a sports car that was available in two different body styles. These body styles included a two-door Targa top and a two-door convertible. It comes with a front mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout, and a y-body platform. The last Chevrolet C4 was produced in 1996 but the car remains popular to this day. The car has a curb weight of 3,239 pounds and was available with multiple transmissions. These transmission included 4-speed automatic, 4+3-speed Doug Nash (overdrive) manual, 4-speed Hydramatic 4L60-E automatic (1994–1996 only) and a 6-speed ZF manual. The ZR-1 set a new record in March, 1990 for the highest 24 hour-5,000 mile land-speed by going over a speed of 175 mph (282 km/h). Prices rose and sales declined, in spite of a completely new chassis, modern sleeker styling, and other improvements to the model. The car stopped being produced in June of 1996. rom the 1984 model year (available January 1984) through the 1988 model year, the Corvette was available with a Doug Nash "4+3" transmission - a 4-speed manual coupled to an automatic overdrive on the top three gears. This unusual transmission was a synergy that allowed the Corvette to keep a stout 4 speed, but add an overdrive. As technology progressed, it was replaced by a modern ZF 6-speed manual transmission.
