Classified as a full size luxury vehicle, the Lexus LS has a starting MSRP of $76,000. The vehicle can get up to 18 MPG (miles per gallon) in the city and up to 29 MPG on the highway. It has an impressive 416 hp (horsepower) and comes with a 3.5 L V6 engine. The Lexus LS comes in two different configurations. These configurations include the 500 and the 500 F SPORT. The model serves as the flagship model of Lexus, the luxury division of Toyota. All LS models featured V8 engines and were predominantly rear-wheel-drive (RWD) for the first four generations. Lexus offered all-wheel-drive (AWD), hybrid, and long-wheelbase variants in the fourth generation. In the fifth generation, they changed to using a V6 engine with no V8 option, and only one length was offered. Development of the LS began in 1983 as the F1 project, the code name for a secret flagship sedan. During this time, the Crown and Century models were Toyota's two existing flagship models. The resulting sedan followed an extended five-year design process at a cost of over US$1 billion, and premiered with a new V8 engine and numerous luxury features.
